Executive Team

Our executives and principals have expertise in a wide range of fields, from computing to telecom to healthcare and life sciences. They have worked in leading corporations, intellectual property investment firms, university technology transfer offices, and venture capital. This breadth of knowledge enables us to provide our clients with the highest level of strategic guidance on a variety of projects, ensuring they extract the greatest value from their IP transactions.

Mansoor A. Khan, Ph.D. 

Mansoor is a seasoned professional with experience in technology commercialization, IP licensing, business development, venture capital, and hardware and software design. He is currently a managing director at Candor IP Ventures.

 

Previously, he was director of technology commercialization at the University of Connecticut where he used his wide skill set towards sourcing, valuation, marketing, and licensing of Intellectual Property. Additionally, he played a leading role in starting many companies based on the university’s IP. He was also a member of the incubator advisory group and prototype investment fund committee at UConn.

 

He has also worked as a Market Development Manager at Lucent Technologies’ optical networking division. He started at Lucent in Bell Labs as a Member of Technical Staff. He has also worked as a senior associate at a venture capital firm where he was responsible for identifying and analyzing investment opportunities in computing, semiconductors, and communication industries. He has also consulted with startups in capital raising and marketing strategies.

 

He received BS, MS, and Ph.D. in computer engineering from Case Western Reserve University. During his graduate studies, he held full time positions in technical marketing and system development at several companies, large as well as university spin-offs. He has also completed a certificate program in business management from NYU.

Hong Zhao, Ph.D.

Dr. Hong Zhao is a seasoned IP executive in IP management and is currently a managing director at Candor IP Ventures..

 

Previously, he was with the IP investment firm Intellectual Ventures in executive roles with both, IIF and IDF funds. In his role as the Global IP portfolio director in IDF fund, he and his team were responsible for $100+ million IP portfolio investment strategy, IP landscape analysis, global inventor network build-up (including national research labs, top universities and inventor individuals and companies) in more than 10 countries, worldwide patent filing strategy, and IP asset monetization. While as the IP portfolio strategist in IIF, he was responsible for patent acquisition strategy development, key patent portfolio acquisitions, and patent valuation, assessment and licensing. He has closed $100+ million patent acquisition deals and established multiple strategic licensing business relationships in strategic partnerships worldwide.

 

Prior to that, he was a senior director at AT&T Wireless (AWS), where he was responsible for AWS’ advanced wireless technology development with key vendors, and later for all AWS’ global ventures management in 12+ countries.

 

He has  in-depth knowledge of IT/Telecom/Wireless technologies and in manufacturing, as well as, services providers industry. Over his 10+ years’ international business management functions, he has established broad reach and connections with multiple regulatory agencies, patent offices, international telecom standard bodies, and leading industry players.

 

He received his PhD Degree in the electrical and computer engineering from University of Victoria, BC Canada. AFter receiving his Ph.D., he worked at Bell Northern Research as a research scientist and a manager. He is a prolific inventor with multiple patents, and has been a regular speaker in international forums.
